Every so often, a photography day stands out—not just for the shots you get, but for how it makes you feel behind the lens. Earlier this year, I spent the day shooting at The Sunken House—a modernist gem in Hackney, near my own home, designed by Sir David Adjaye. Built partly underground and filled with natural light, it felt more like stepping onto a film set than into someone’s home.

It’s not called Ed’s Shed for nothing—it’s quietly iconic and effortlessly cool.
Hosted by the ever-creative Tabitha Boydell, the shoot brought together four incredible models—Saida, Emily, Chish, and Sophia—styled in bold, futuristic fashion with lighting setups by Simon Carter that were pure theatre. Gels, shadows, metallics, reflection.
It was less about clicking a shutter and more about creating something from a shared mood.
